The University of York - Department of Theatre, Film and Television
Plans are well underway for the new Heslington East Campus, which will double the size of the University of York. The expansion plans are to include a new department of Theatre, Film and Television, a creative technologies hub and important space for spin-out activity. The new department aims to cover both the scientific and artistic facets of the discipline. Postgraduate courses will begin on the existing campus in 2007, with Undergraduate courses starting in 2008.

Visual Enterprise Scheme
This scheme is funded by the Arts Council England, and is hosted and coordinated by York College. By allowing Visual Arts graduates the opportunity to develop their own artistic practice and obtain first hand knowledge of professional skills, the scheme produces many effective contributors to the creative industries over a short period.

York St John University has some 6,000 students from the UK and overseas. They aim to provide a dynamic environment in which students can engage with current and emergent debates and practices within creative and cultural industries, as well as sustain their own entrepreneurial integrity within their chosen creative field. The University recognises that their talent and commitment fuels the creative industries in the region and are committed to supporting their progression from education to employment. The Faculty of Arts at the University offers a wide range of subjects including; performance, dance, music, theatre, film, media, literature, fine art, 3D design, textiles and history.

Scheduled to be launched this summer York Studios, the brainchild of Dot Com Imaging, will offer professional studio space for photography, video and film production. Phase 1 consists of a 700 sq ft studio (with loading bay) and 100 sq ft Mini product photo studio and also boasts many additional features including meeting rooms, kitchen, dressing room and shower facilities. Phase 2 is already being planned with the potential to add a 2,000 sq ft studio and two 500 sq ft studios. This creates the opportunity for 3,700 sq ft of studio space with hire starting from just £10 per hour.
