Yorkshire and the Humber is the food and drink capital of the UK. North Yorkshire itself has a vast history of Food and Drink across the area, employing 12,527 people in 2008.
The area boasts the UK's largest concentration of food research and production facilities, such as the Food and Environment Research Agency and the Centre of Industrial Collaboration. York & North Yorkshire dominates a number of food sectors and is home to some of the world’s best-known food producers including: Nestle, Greencore Grocery Ltd, Wensleydale Foods Ltd, McCain Foods and Richmond Foods.
